RALLY FOR RICH
Donation protected
Rich Rhodes is a 41 year old father of two beautiful children, age 9 and 13. Rich had been having some back pain. On May 10, 2015, Rich went to the hospital because his back pain turned into the inability to move his lower extremities. After running some test, Rich was immediately transferred from his local hospital to Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. It was discovered that he had a tumor on his spine. Rich was sent to an Oncologist at Shadyside Hospital. There Rich was diagnosed with Liposarcoma. Sarcoma is a rare cancer that arises in the connective tissue (fat, blood vessels, nerves, bones, muscles, and cartlidge) of the body. The turmor on Rich's spine is malignant and spread through the tissue up and down his spine. Rich started treatments of radiation and chemotherapy. In addition, he has received physical and occupational therapy. After 38 days, Rich remains in the hospital and is able to transfer himself in and out of his wheelchair. However, he still does not have lower extremity mobility. Rich and his family are hopeful that he will be coming home on June 19th. His family is preparing for his homecoming. However, it is not without adjustments to their home. A bathroom will need to be constructed on the lower level of their home due to Rich is unable to go up stairs.
I am asking for your help to aid the family financially due to the medical costs and adaptations they need to make to their home for Rich to be able to move around safely. Your kindness is greatly appreciated.
