We’re reaching out to ask for your support for 8-year-old Oliver, a vibrant and adventurous boy who’s currently facing a serious medical journey after a terrifying fall.

Oliver loves climbing trees, going on little backyard adventures, and exploring the world around him. Earlier this week, while doing what he loves most, Oliver slipped and fell from a 9 feet tree. He was rushed to Cox Hospital, where doctors feared a C9 vertebrae fracture, a skull fracture, and a brain bleed. He was bleeding from his ear, a sign that something more serious could be happening.

Oliver was quickly transported to St. Louis Children’s Hospital for specialized care. Thankfully, doctors were able to rule out the vertebrae fracture, suspecting a congenital abnormality instead. They also found no brain bleed—an incredible relief. However, Oliver does have a fractured skull, and the break is pressing against a critical vein in his brain, causing it to kink. His medical team is currently monitoring him closely as they determine the next steps.

Due to extenuating circumstances, Oliver’s family did not have medical insurance at the time of the accident. The costs of emergency care, hospital stays, scans, and transport are already overwhelming—and continue to rise. No family should have to worry about finances while watching their child fight to recover from something so traumatic.
