Stem Cell Treatment for Ramiz (ROUND 2)
Donation protected
Update : First round of stem cell treatment done Jan 23/2024. Thank you to everyone who has supported me along this journey.
It took a lot of patience and work to make this happen but it was worth every little bit. We are seeing progress already and it’s only been one week since we are back. I feel very grateful and thankful.
Ramiz is my unique little boy. He is almost 4 years old and is loved very much. He was diagnosed with autism in 2021.
When he was one years old, I had a feeling there was something different about him. He never reached many of his milestones on time, so I insisted to see a developmental paediatric doctor. He is very creative but doesn’t respond to his name and gives little to no eye contact. Ramiz is non verbal and has a lot of sensory overload anxiety. As months have passed things have gotten more difficult, especially communicating. Ramiz has quiet a few meltdowns through out the day because I cannot understand what he wants and this breaks my heart.
We received the diagnosis last summer but unfortunately we are still waiting on funding from OAP. We were paying for private one on one therapy, however it became too much and not affordable. We have completed a couple virtual therapies which has helped a little bit and are also attending a weekly (6 week) group play in person at grandview. We are grateful for all the help we have gotten, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough, and it continues to get harder as he grows.
Ramiz needs one on one basically 24/7. He cannot eat by himself, he cannot dress himself, or pretty much anything. He wakes up several times through out the night. Children with autisim are at greater risk for poor sleep.
We also have an 18 month old who is a handful. But because of his sensory anxiety it is very hard to have them both together. I am very blessed to have amazing family that watch him overnight, to help me manage Ramiz. It’s very hard because Ramiz needs One-on-one assistance all the time.
I have created this GO FUND ME page to help fundraise money for my son to start STEM CELL THERAPY TREATMENT.
What is STEM CELL THERAPY?
Stem cell therapy, also known as regenerative medicine, promotes the repair response of diseased, dysfunctional or injured tissue using stem cells or their derivatives. It is the next chapter in organ transplantation and uses cells instead of donor organs, which are limited in supply.
I have done my research and have spoken to many families who have had this therapy done and have seen it very helpful for there children on the spectrum. The outcome of stem cell therapy is remarkably positive. In stem cell therapy, stem cells are injected into a patient to repair or replace damaged cells as a way of treating various conditions.
How much does it cost?
In Canada there is just one doctor that can provide this. It can cost nearly $200,000. But I have come across clinics outside of Canada that is a lot more affordable. But saying this we have to take Ramiz yearly to have this treatment done. At least 3-4 years in a row.
We are striving for stem cell therapy at stem cell institute in Panama City. We also have looked into stem cell in Mexico at another clinic. The unfortunate part is that none of this is covered by insurance. The total cost for a 5 day procedure in Panama is $17,000 US plus $3000 to bring stem cell booster home. But the other unfortunate part is we may need more than one procedure/visit. Our total cost for one trip would cost us $60-80,000 to hopefully achieve the outcome we are looking for.
I am hoping to take him end of this year or early next year !
I am asking friends and family to please donate or share. We are really looking forward to helping Ramiz.
Thank you very much
