Hi, I am Randi 25 years old and hoping to have a more normal and independent life experience. At 5 years old I was losing my balance and had extra movments of my extremities. This became progressivly worse as the years went by. I was diagnosed with a genetic disorder called Ataxia plus other related disorders. This condition causes me to lose my balance and I fall down a lot and get bruises. Because of this I am unable to get around without a arm or walls to hold on to. If I try to stand or walk on my own I fall and hurt myself. I use my scooter but there are times I have to do things I have to stand for.
I cannot walk on my own. I was diagnosed at around 12 with AOA1 (Ataxia with Oculomoter Apraxia). A genetic condition which has never showed up in our family history. We were pretty devastated about it. It is a progressive disorder that is very rare. Like 1 in a million at least. Many people have Ataxia, there are many different kinds. There is no cure, but there is a belief that stem cell therapy could help. I want to try this therapy which I can't possibly afford, Hence the Go Fund Me site. Maybe it's a pipe dream, but I'll try anything that might help. I continue to do the things I enjoy, I love life, but maybe this could make this easier for me. I would love to fall down less and not hurt myself so much. But I keep on plugging away at life and finding ways to be happy. So I ask, contribute if you can, I know it's hard for a lot of people, But Please, Please, Please share this with as many people as you can. The more we get it out there, the better chance I have of succeeding
