On June 2nd, 2020 my family lost a very special person in our lives, my uncle Randy. Randy DeOrio was born on March 19th, 1961. He passed away unexpectedly in his sleep at the age of 59. Randy was born in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Paterson, NJ when he was very young.
He leaves behind many of his family, his MANY friends, and the community of Paterson which he loved so much. Randy devoted his life to bringing awareness to Paterson with his boxing, acting, and writing. He was goal driven and he dreamed so big. I always admired this trait about him. He taught me how to dream big.
One thing that I have always noticed about my uncle ,ever since I was very young, was his ability to light up a room. Randy was the most positive soul I've ever met. Everyone who met Randy absolutely loved him. So many people have reached out to me in the last couple days saying "I didn't know that was you're uncle! Everyone loves Randy. " It's true almost everyone knows Randy, and that's why I am here for your help. My family is so heartbroken and completely shocked by his passing. We were not prepared for this in any sense, so we truly need donations to give Randy the proper burial he deserves. My family does not come from much so when I tell you, every $1 or $5 will mean the entire world to us, it truly will. If you knew Randy, you know he was always there to help everyone even when he didn't have anything to give. If you were a family member, a friend, a cast member, a former boxing mate, anyone who worked with Randy, anyone who served him at his favorite local restaurants, anyone who loved Randy, please please please donate. We love you all so much and thank you for all the prayers during this heartbreaking time. My family will be posting memorial service plans. (Everything is a little chaotic because of COVID BUT we have something very special in mind. We have to wait until the Paterson Museum opens back up.) Thank you for your help.
