Randy Durbin Final Expenses & Memorial
Hi everyone, this is Ron Durbin, Randy's younger brother. I am putting the gofundme together with Sis Arlene and eldest bro Frank joining me now. We will be handling the dispersion of any funds we raise, to be used for final expenses and the memorial service we have planned for later in the year. You all know we were very close and loved each other dearly. Randy was his own man and lived life as he saw fit.
Randy was very loved and we all know he did so much in life on the spur of the moment and his passing was no different. It was sudden and quite unexpected and he had no life insurance or estate to speak of, to help pay his final expenses. If you can help at all, anything would be deeply appreciated. We do plan to bury him with dignity next to our Mom and Dad, but also plan to have a memorial in New Port Richey very soon, to celebrate his life. We will send out the info on his FB page and if you don't have FB, we'll text folks we know who don't.
Many don't know his full name was George Randall “Randy” Durbin and he was 56 years of age. He passed away from cancer peacefully at Marliere Hospice House at 3:00 am Saturday, July 24th, 2021. He suffered with pain management the last 10 years or so after hurting his back at work but he was feeling like he broke a rib or two by falling down on the corner of his bed a few weeks back. The pain just wouldn't clear up and he had a cough that was nagging him after 10 days of antibiotics. If you know Randy, you know he's been having horrible pain for years in his back and although he had pain management trying to help him, they never did figure it all out, so he was pretty much in constant pain without some sort of pain pill. He went to the hospital to get checked out and they ended up admitting him after they found pneumonia and a spot on his lung. They biopsied the tumor and it was Adrenocarcinoma that metastasized to his spine and pelvis and that was the cause of his excruciating pain in the hospital. Monday they told us this shocking news and by the early morning hours of Saturday, he passed, that sudden. He suffered for about 8 days in the hospital with them trying to change meds, etc but they sent him to Hospice on Friday and he passed Saturday. Our whole family is shattered and broken up right now. Paula, Nick and Mike have to try to sort out a life without him providing and we'll all need to keep them in prayers.
Here's a little background about Randy:
After graduating High School, Randy became a Professional Arborist & Owner/Operator of Top Notch Tree Service. Randy worked hard his entire life and loved tree work, being outside, not tied down to a desk & phone. Sometimes quiet, he was always quick with a funny quip and loved to make others smile. Randy was a very talented, accomplished, guitar player who performed in venues around the state of Florida in his teens and early twenties with his younger brother, Ron, in the band known as Thunder. Randy loved to work on & race cars, but the greatest passion he shared with his family, was Captaining his 23' Robalo Deep Sea Fishing boat named, the 'Oh Yeah'. When fishing as youngsters, Randy would yell, “OH YEAH”, every time he hooked a grouper, hence the name of his boat. He had a fantastic sense of humor and loved all of his family and friends with his whole heart. He will be deeply missed by us all. He was very close to his family and friends, as you probably know.
He's survived by his Sister, two Brothers, Paula, Nick & Mike.
Unfortunately, Randy's boat has fallen into deep disrepair and can't even be launched or moved in it's current state, so we can't do much with it to support the final expenses and he had nothing else to speak of that would assist with the expenses. If you so desire to help, we thank you and ask special blessings on your heart. We've already amassed a bit over $14k and haven't even planned any memorial or got a headstone for his mausoleum.
God bless all.
