Hi- this is Tiffani Maxwell.
We first wanted to get permission from Randy L to create a GoFund page. His first words to us were: "well, I'd rather be working"
Just shows the type of person Randy is. He is very appreciative and humbled about all this.
He drives for us periodically and no matter what situation may arise- he has the most positive attitude and outlook. No doubt he will bounce back from this physical injury with a stronger body, mind and spirit.
Randy Littrell: I got my left foot caught in a lawn mower when I was 19 months old. The local hospital said all they could do was amputate my leg above the knee but told my parents that if they took me to Kansas City that they might be able to save my foot. So my dad and mom took me to KC by private car. My mom told me it was a miracle that we survived the very fast trip.
I spent 7 months in the hospital with my left foot skin graphed to my right calf. They saved the foot but it obviously had some problems that I have dealt with for 65+ years. I have never let it keep me from doing what I wanted to do.
I have considered the amputation option for at least 15 years but there were obstacles that prevented me from going thru with the procedure.
Last August I was referred to an orthopedic doctor in Columbia who felt that my best option for a more comfortable life and more mobility was for a below the knee amputation. After much contemplation, consultation, and prayer for a couple months I made the very hard decision to schedule my surgery for Dec 12.
The surgery went very well and because of a great doctor and I believe the power of prayer by many many people. My recovery and path to a prosthetic leg has been somewhat slower than I had hoped but probably fairly normal for this procedure.
I hope to be back close to a more normal life for me in the next few months.
