Randy’s get well soon fundraiser

I created a fundraiser to help out my parents during this trying time. As many of you know, but for those that don't, my father has been laid up in the hospital since the beginning of May. What was supposed to be a same-day surgery, has had him struggling to recover ever since. Randy had surgery to remove part of his colon at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Immediately following, complications reared its ugly head. Around May 7th, things were not going well, I packed up my wife and kids and drove overnight the entire 17 hours straight back up to Minnesota as the situation was taking a turn for the worse. While I was there, Randy was basically sleeping and too weak to do any kind of visiting. He still hasn't met his newest grandson, Daxton. At that point, he felt that he didn't want to see him in that condition and that he wouldn't enjoy seeing him in that state. Fast forward a few weeks, and they felt he was stable enough to be transferred to physical therapy rehab. He was transferred to Cannon Falls, but after a day or so, they transferred him back down to Mayo. Randy underwent another surgery to go in and clean up some of the infection keeping his recovery at bay. After this surgery, he started to bounce back. Four days later, they repeated the same thing and it improved his situation some more. Weeks went by once again and they were ready to transfer him back to Cannon Falls, but there wasn't a bed available anymore. The idea of sending him home was brought up, and my Mother and he decided to give it a go. After a few days of that, and some follow-up appointments down at Mayo, they once again admitted him to the hospital. Some CT scans have shown some new complications are rearing their ugly head. During this time, my Mom has had to do everything she can to hold down the fort with the old man in the hospital. Thankfully, many people have stepped in, helping out by mowing the lawn, feeding and letting the dogs out, and so much more. However, that hasn't stopped murphys law from making quite a few appearances. Anything from having to replace a motor on the well pump, to vehicle issues, has been plaguing her this entire process. My Mom works full time to try and keep income coming to the house, as Randy's income has been severely reduced since he's on disability. All the while doing anything and everything she can around the house, and still finding time to drive an hour each way to Rochester to visit my Dad. My Mother hardly does anything for herself and has been so overwhelmed trying to make sure ends are met, the house is taken care of, and trying to be there for her husband. Anything that is donated will surely be met with gratitude. Whether it's gas money to go down to Rochester, relief from bills, or something to fight back against Murphy's law and the disaster that it brings, anything and everything helps. We are all looking forward to getting Randy back on his feet, he still has so much to do still. He has a great company anxiously awaiting his return to work, a grandson looking to meet his grandfather, his first elk to be shot down in Utah, and lots of loving family waiting to breathe a sigh of relief when he's finally out of these dark and dreary woods.
