Ranfurly Home youth housing project "The Step"
Ranfurly Home is working to grow its transitional housing project – called The Step – for young adults who have “aged out” of the foster care system from across the Bahamas.
Through the program called "The Step", young adults (aged 18 to 21) will receive low-cost housing, as well as vocational training, mentoring, and life-skills coaching.
What Is The Step?
The Step expands Ranfurly’s assistance and support for young adults who have aged out of the foster care system. The Step, is primarily a transitional living community for young adults between 18-21, that will be constructed on Ranfurly’s 3-acre property in Nassau. It will include transitional housing units – or “PODS” – that are individual suite – type apartments.
Additionally, the young adults accepted into the program will also receive mentoring, job training and life-skills coaching. Ultimately, The Step’s mission is to provide a successful transition from foster care to independent living.
Our Goal
To raise $110,000, the cost of one housing unit, at The Step. This will allow Ranfurly to expand and serve more young adults who have aged out of foster or group home systems to avoid homelessness in Nassau.
