The Rangers Little League Development Under 12 Baseball Team (Tate, Dom, Nathaniel, Hudson, Felix, Patrick, Oscar, Jayden, Carter, Oliver, Seb, Aiden and Jake) recently played at the 2024 State Little League Development Championship. The boys played an incredible tournament, and this amazing achievement means that the team will now represent Victoria at the 2024 Australian Little League Championships at the Blacktown International Sports Park in Sydney from the 3rd June through to 11th June.
This is such a fantastic honour for this young team who come from a number of baseball clubs in the South East (Upwey Ferntree Gully, Waverley, Chelsea and Mulgrave) forming the Rangers Charter, and it provides a wonderful opportunity for them to develop valuable life skills such as resilience, leadership, independence, confidence and the ability to support & work as a team.
As mentioned above, this is a very young U12 team that has already exceeded all expectations at this level of baseball, and we are very proud of their combined commitment and determination.
National tournaments have considerable costs involved and, in this instance, are more than usual – estimated between $3,500 to $4,000 per child – as Baseball Australia aim to charge each child the same amount, regardless of which state you are travelling from to fairly subsidise teams travelling from a further distance e.g. WA
This fee covers airfares, accommodation, transport to/from the venue, food, uniforms, training/playing equipment, laundry and activities to keep the kids entertained during downtime between, and after games.
For some families, this presents a significant financial challenge.
We would therefore appreciate any monetary contribution that you are able to make in order to assist the entire team in getting to the tournament, and allowing this dedicated group of kids to participate in the sport that they love!
