Rappahannock Employee Relief Fund
Donation protected
Firstly, we want to thank everyone for the tremendous support you have shown us as we operate in a limited capacity at our restaurants and oyster company due to the spread of COVID-19. We truly feel blessed, even in this trying time. Many of you have been asking how you can support our most impacted employees directly. For that reason, we wanted to set up a GoFundMe expressly for them.
What this crisis has done to hospitality workers is devastating. And that includes an entire support industry of trucking companies, food purveyors, equipment leasing companies, linen companies, farmers, fisherman – just to name a few. All of these businesses have come to a screeching halt.
Needless to say, you’ll see a lot of GoFundMe pages out there, and they all need your support, equally. And so all we can ask is that you support as many as you can, if by chance this crisis has impacted you a little less. One of our favorite organizations is the World Central Kitchen https://donate.wck.org/give/236738/#!/donation/checkout
where you can donate to help Chef Jose Andres and his team support efforts and needs across the entire world. Another great one to visit is the James Beard Foundation Relief Fund . Or simply look for your favorite restaurants or producers and see if you can help through online or to-go ordering or gift cards.
Perhaps it’s silly, but sometimes, help is the hardest word to say – particularly in an industry where serving others is in our DNA. You want to be strong, and, moreover, you always imagine being the one who helps, not the one asking for it. But we’re all both vulnerable and strong at the same time. It’s our intention at Rappahannock to be back serving YOU as soon as conditions allow. Be safe and be strong.
