Hello Everyone,
There are those moments in life that we are called to help others in need and I am asking you to search your heart and see if this is one of those times for you. No matter how little or how much you can give to support this cause, it is dire and needed ASAP. Time is of the essence as every day matters.
We all will have moments in our own journey of life that test our core beliefs and faith. In one way or another we will most likely need to get help and assistance from others. Let's come together as we are called to do and help an amazing person, couple, family and friend prepare for the battle of their lives. Imagine for just a second that you’re hanging from a cliff and all you have to guarantee your next breath is the strength in your two hands. Both palms are sweaty, blistered and bleeding. You’re ready to break and you just don’t know if you can hang on or if you’re about to meet your fate. This is exactly the feeling my close friend and business associate, Walt Peterson & his dear wife Raquel felt upon leaving the Oncologist’s office just a few weeks ago. They received the news no one ever wants to hear; “we’re so sorry, but Raquel has Stage 4 ovarian cancer.”
To say the least, this comes as very unwelcome news and has shaken them to their core. Raquel’s recent diagnosis shows the cancer has spread and now referred to as Peritoneal Cancer.
Raquel and Walt have led a very healthy lifestyle over the last decade, eating primarily organic and unprocessed foods. There’s no definite known cause, but they think the use of hormone replacement therapy cream could possibly be a contributing factor.
After two weeks of extensive research, Raquel and Walt are now also considering Integrative Medicine, verses traditional treatment, which would be chemotherapy, surgery and more chemotherapy, in Raquel’s case.
Through their investigative process, they have discovered multiple integrative approaches and therapies throughout the US and abroad.
No matter which route they go, it will be an intensive, comprehensive and very costly regimen covering a full spectrum of advanced cancer therapies. There is so much they must consider as they are dealing with a very time sensitive situation.
Although Raquel has health insurance, some treatment both inside and outside of the US is not covered unless it is approved by the FDA, therefore, it falls outside of any insurance eligibility requirements. No matter the solution they choose, a large portion of the cost of treatment will be Walt & Raquel’s burden to bear moving forward.
Raquel is no longer working for obvious reasons, leaving them with less as they head into the fight of their lives. The probability that this will leave them financially tapped is daunting for them to say the least, as the odds are just not in their favor, given the prevailing circumstances. It is a very slippery slope that is testing their faith at every turn.
For those of you who know Walt, he’s not one to ask for help. He’s an extremely humble and private man, who has always provided well for his family. That said, Walt & Raquel are at the crossroads, uncertain and scared, knowing full well this is that moment when they know they must put all else aside to win this fight. Asking for this sort of help is never easy, so I am gladly stepping up in their defense, as I cannot think of two individuals more deserving of winning this fight!
For those of you that know Raquel, I’m sure you know how blessed you are to have such a kind and beautiful spirit as a friend! She exemplifies the definition of a women of faith, that is always giving of others and never thinking of herself. She exudes continued positive energy even now, to nurture her husband, four daughters and nine grandchildren as they enter the battlefield with total optimism of being victorious!
With her adoring husband and family and her savior, Jesus Christ, together they are going to defeat this wicked disease! However, your help with whatever your heart tells you, will be so very appreciated, as the expected cost should easily exceed $100,000, when this is all said and done.
Let’s embrace this couple and show them that we care by lifting them up in prayer and love and light. On behalf of Walt, Raquel and their entire family, we bless you and so appreciate your assistance in this critical time of need.
Blessings,
Brian Nates and the entire Peterson and Pinto Family
