Rare Brain Cancer, Gliosarcoma
Zane Madrigal, a 44 year old loving father to three young boys, dedicated husband, an integral member of the Elk Grove baseball community, was recently diagnosed with an extremely rare form of brain cancer, Gliosarcoma.
Zane recently awoke to a sudden loss of cognitive function, trouble walking or speaking. MRI revealed a large mass on his brain. A biopsy confirmed the worst, that this was in fact an aggressive form of cancer. His Sacramento physician stated it was inoperable, too dangerous to chance. Unwilling to give up, the family sought a second opinion in San Fransisco, at UCSF Medical Center. Thankfully surgery was confirmed an option, and tumor was removed in September. UCSF pathology confirmed Gliosarcoma, Stage IV disease.
Treatment is the next step. His wife, Heather, is on leave from work to be Zane’s primary caregiver. She drives Zane roughly 200 miles, 5 days a week, to UCSF to receive radiation treatment. Travel expenses are adding up.
All donations will go towards aiding Zane in expenses related to treatment. The donations will also be used for incurred loss of wages, and alternative medical treatments that are not covered by insurance.
Any amount of support helps, including sharing on social media. Thank you for considering the Madrigals in their time of need. Please pray for Zane and his family on their long road ahead.
