Rasch/Stemmler Family Fire Fund
Donation protected
This past Sunday in the heart of Maplewood, the home of Jon, Sonya and Carson caught on fire while they were only a few blocks away celebrating Sonya’s birthday. Many in our community witnessed their home fully ablaze (10 year old Carson’s room is pictured fully engulfed) and thankfully all residents in the four family building got out safely. By the time they were able to return home the family joined others across the street in total shock as they watched the final fire trucks leave behind their own smoldering building. The fire was believed to be started accidentally on the back lower level porch and unfortunately the family lost everything!
Jon and Sonya are hard workers and he is thankful to have a job during this time. Sonya is on a short leave until her office is able to see patients again and all are staying locally in Maplewood as her mother lives close by. Jon is active in our community, volunteering his time as a MRH Youth Sports Board member and coaches Carson's basketball team and girls volleyball! Carson is an amazing 10 year old, a friend to many in the neighborhood and MRH school. All of his friends and classmates want to do so much, but in this time of extreme social distancing they know they can't see him in person!
When I mentioned to Jon a GoFundMe campaign, he was very hesitant as he understands it’s a new world right now given many people are out of work. But I believe that many can and will help!! This is our chance as a community to rally around our own! GoFundMe is a great platform that will allow a seamless donation and easily shareable on social media! Many have already contributed both monetarily or with home goods and clothes. Jon, Sonya and Carson THANK YOU so much....they are beyond grateful for our community and friends of friends who have been so kind.
