Rashawn Golterman Life Changing Fund

Saturday, June 13th was the day my family and I decided to come together after social distancing due to Covid-19. The gathering was in honor of my son’s 24th birthday and my niece’s graduation; it was a time of celebration. We hugged each other affectionately as we departed to our separate homes. I later received a phone call from an officer telling me my son was in the hospital in critical condition from a motor vehicle accident. My only thought is that I cannot lose my son!
One minute I was celebrating my son’s 24th birthday, which was two days earlier. The next minute I was a nervous wreck pacing the emergency room floor anxiously awaiting being escorted to see my son. For hours the only update I got was “the doctors are still working on him”, I’ve heard these lines before but only in movies, it isn’t real. I willed myself to wake up from this nightmare but to my dismay this was my reality. It has been unbearable for me during these pass weeks as I watch daily and pray for my son to recover.
On Sunday June 14th my son Rashawn Golterman experienced an epileptic seizure while driving home from celebrating his birthday with family and friends. The car spun out of control, hit a poll and rolled a few times. It was only the grace of God the accident had no fatalities. The car was so wrecked that the jaws of life was necessary to remove him from the car. My precious son, who is also a loving father, a caring big brother, a nephew, a cousin and an adored grandson is in the ICU fighting for his life. His usual slender frame is bloated due to all the fluids and machinery. I gazed at him through teary eyes as a machine was keeping him alive. His arms and legs are broken, as well as his hip and pelvic; he has bleeding on his brain and swelling. His lungs have collapsed as a result he has to be intubated and cannot undergo the necessary surgeries needed as he is not stable enough.
He initially had 3 surgeries but due to the severe loss of blood the doctors were unable to perform the major surgeries needed to ensure he will walk again and have full use of all his faculties. We as a family are trusting God to perform a miracle and we welcome your prayers. Your donation to offset expenses associated with critical hospitalization and rehabilitation would be greatly appreciated so that Rashawn will be able to have his mind focused on healing and not worrying about these expenses.
With what Rashawn has been through, all the surgeries, the tests, his ongoing stay and care in ICU have added up immensely. His journey has just begun, so as you can imagine he will be unable to work for the foreseeable future. We humbly ask for your support during this difficult time and to show this young man that in a world where we see hatred and pain, compassion and love for each other is still real. Anything helps, no gift is too small! Your support means the world to Rashawn and to all of us his family. Please share this link on your social media and with your friends and love ones, thanks in advance. God bless you!
