I am Dan, an Aussie who married his American sweetheart and now resides in the USA with her and their two gorgeous daughters.
It has been several years since we were able to get back to my homeland.
My girls have yet to see where I grew up and have not yet met most of my family.
We had planned to get back this year or early 2017 but we have had to indefinitely postpone yet again.
Largely in part to our infant daughters craniosynostosis surgery and numerous medical issues this year. Also due to time off work being difficult to schedule but primarily due to moneys.
Because of the severity of the operations and recovery our daughter required we are only able to budget for nothing more than the very hefty medical bills and some of our standard living expenses.
We have been heartbroken at having to use the travel fund and watch it dissapate. It has been several years since I and my wife have been back and our four year old continues to ask "when are we going to 'straya?!"
We are only asking for friends and family to consider donating to this fund because we are unable to do it all by ourselves.
This is a means to negate some of my homesickness, rejoin my loved ones and to bring about a much needed respite from the year this has been for us as a family.
Our intention is to see each and every friend of ours when we eventually do get back. But we understand the likelihood of acheiving such a feat is rather slim.
Our plan is to stay in my home town of Albury Wodonga for an extended stay with trips to Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney mixed in.
We have not yet set a date but are hoping to be home by mid to late 2018 unless we can reach our goal of $15,000 sooner.
