RawLite The Camp & The Callouts NYC Lesperado Prod

Hello Everyone,

My name is Leslie Feliciano, born and raised in Brooklyn NY.  I spent the last decade channeling my passion for dance and my 30 years of work experience, into empowering and investing in the raw talent within the dance community in NYC and abroad. (My full bio below).

In 2019, I created RawLiteThe Camp (#rawlitethecamp). RawLite The Camp, sponsored by the New York Foundation for The Arts, is a three day dance workshop lead by the creators and innovators of several street styles and is intended to take place three times a year live in NYC and virtually streamed across the globe. These same teachers will then be taking this camp on the road to other national communities and internationally as well to countries such as Peru, Spain, Argentina and Colombia for live training in street styles including Flexn, Krump, LiteFeet, Locking, Hip Hop and more. This camp offers a way to uplift young dancers, providing them with opportunities for career and creative expansion, while connecting the local and global dance community.

In 2020, I created THE CALLOUTS NYC (#thecalloutsnyc), proceeding the 2nd annual RawLite The Camp 2020, which was conducted virtually due to COVID. The goal of this event was to bring the international dance community together, with two months of online Battles, judged by some of the greatest talent from the heart of the Hip Hop, Flexn, House and LiteFeet Communities here in NY. Cash prizes were awarded to the winners, with foreign crews from Peru, Spain, Argentina, Colombia and Canada having the opportunity to battle NYC crews. With additional crews waiting to be a part of THE CALLOUTS NYC, I’m excited to continue growing and giving the community a platform to showcase their talent.

Also, part of the camp includes the @thecalloutsnyc Best of Both Worlds battle which also debuted in 2020, taking place after the RawLite The Camp 2020 workshop. The Callouts NYC: Best of Both Worlds is a platform where talented artists can come and have fun while showcasing their talent. The battle consists of teams comprised by a dancer and rapper who come together to battle opposing teams and share their expression of dance, rap and/or poetry in a harmonic way. When in tour, the local talent in the different countries and states can participate and strive to win the opportunity to battle the NYC original crew.

Thanks to your contributions to last years fundraisers, the 2020 editions of RawLite: The Camp and The Callouts NYC events were able to take place!! BIG THANK YOU! 

These programs allow us to develop opportunities for progress and excellence for the youth of today, tomorrow, and the generations to come, and we're excited to announce that RawLite:The Camp and The Callouts NYC are back for their 2021 (online) editions and we need your help again to make it happen!

In 2021, three events are taking place: 
- The Callouts NYC: Best of Both Worlds (second edition): May 1st, 2021
- RawLite The Camp 2021: (third edition): Summer 2021 (exact dates TBC)
- The Callouts NYC: Best of Both Worlds (third edition): Summer 2021 (exact dates TBC)

This GoFundMe was created to help cover the costs of the teachers of the camp, the expenses of online production; the cost of the equipment, sound system, studio rental, uniforms for teachers, staff costs (security, host, photographer, videographer, etc.) and more!
