Hello My name is Marcella Colbert and I am writing you on behalf of the Colbert family.
It is with a heart of sadness and yet a heart of joy I write this. Our community has lost a true representation of one who emulated the love of God, the joy of the Lord, and the liberation extended through our savior; despite being condemned through trials a tribulation.
Ray Colbert, a true jewel to life and an even greater jewel to the Kingdom of God. The Lord said love our neighbors as ourselves, and Ray was a true expression of love through his kindness, an acceptance of others.
Ray carried a freedom and light that we often try to fight to obtain and never obtain because of the unwillingness to love and forgive. These are key attributes to abundant life and Ray knew that.
As I thought and think about Ray I said He was a joy carrier, he danced, he sung with a freedom that liberated others. When we think of Ray we ought to think of God’s word that says “These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
I truly believe we can learn something from the life of Ray – despite the trouble he faced in the world, he knew exactly how to hold on to the peace of Jesus. He overcame the tribulation of the world and understood the assignment to overcome the world in and through Christ. He believed God and that’s how his cup stayed full, that’s why Ray had a continual song and dance in his heart.
The Lord tells in Matthew 5:14-16 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill and cannot be hid.
We know all who knew Ray and or crossed his path knew he was a true expression of this scripture. Your life speaks volumes when all one can do is identify you through scripture, the Word is life and He carried it and shared it with each of us.
As we prepare to lay Ray’s physical body to rest, with tears of sadness because he will be missed dearly and with tears of Joy “because I understand to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord”
With humbleness of heart, We ask for the help of our community, friends, and family with a donation to make the HOMECOMING for RAY COLBERT possible.
With love and all sincerity, I thank you all for your time, your support, your heart felt words, and above it all your love.
