Parents: Shirley Sonja Davis and Raymond R. Conrad
Siblings: Francene LaVern Mendalook (deceased), Matthew D. White, Christina M. White
Nephew: Matthew White Jr., Joshua. Mendalook, Casey Mendalook,
Nieces: Samantha Mendalook, Celeste Mendalook, Crystal M. Morris
Families: Davis and Conrad with survivors on both sides of the family.

When Ray was younger, he spent a lot of time with his Grandparents, Grace and Francis Davis in Ti-Bar and learning all the ways and practices of a traditional life as Karuk. He loved learning and traveling around with his Uncle Sonny and Uncle Willy and treasured them with his whole heart. His Uncles helped to fill a void that was left by having lost his Dad before he was born. He also liked passing along what he knew to younger generations so practices would survive the change that he struggled to adapt to.

Ray fiercely loved his family and friends and would do anything to help them if they asked. He lived a bit of a nomadic life, but always had a strong yearning to be near and on the Klamath River. He loved to sit and bullshit with anyone he knew over a beer and had a knack for starting up conversations with complete strangers. Traveling around the backroads, listening to music, and pulling over a wideouts to have a refreshment was his idea of a vacation.

Taming Ray and changing who he was was a battle that would be lost by anyone who tried. He was who he was, a one-of-a-kind guy. His humor could rub people the wrong way, his stubborn side could hide him away from those he loved most times he would find his way back to people and keep moving forward. Ray was grounded in family connection, love of the River, and simpler times. He touched many lives on both a small scale and large scale and will be missed.
Now, he will rest easier with his Parents, uncles, AAunts Sister, Cousins, and Friends. I hope you have memories that will keep him in your heart. If you ever find you are missing him, have a beer and pour one out for him, have a soda and pour one out for him, have a chocolate milkshake and share a few spoonsful with him.

And even if you are not a Steelers fan, remember all his preseason “we will win it this year” banter, and know he will be somewhere trying to help them win one again.
