Ray Whiteman Heritage Fence

Donation protected

The Ray Whiteman Heritage Fence is an initiative of the Glenorie Progress Association, the Glenorie Sub-Branch, the Glenorie Memorial Hall Committee and Hornsby Shire Council.

The objective is to develop a fence that celebrates the heritage of our community with sculptured sandstone pillars, honours the legacy of Ray Whiteman who maintained the space for the community and provide the community with a safe area in which to hold the annual Anzac Day dawn service.

The Ray Whiteman Heritage Fence will be built around the Wal Buckingham Park next to the Glenorie Memorial Hall. We hope each sandstone pillar will tell the story of the history of the area. More parking spaces will be provided for the hall. The project will look at the void behind the hall and attempt to link the hall to the enclosed park, to provide a safer space for families and children when hiring the hall or park.

We have had some amazing sponsorship from the Galston & District Community Bank, the Whiteman Family, the Sakis Family and Hornsby Council. We invite businesses and the community to help us raise the final $50,000 to complete the project.
