Help Me Scoot! Rayne’s TravelScoot Fundraiser

Donation protected
UPDATE: I was able to finally locate a used TravelScoot in great condition that I can pick up while I’m in DC for only $1,000!*

*$1100 goal to account for fundraising fees and donations so far.
So I was actually able to lower the goal amount from $3k to only $1k.
Now I just need to raise the new goal amount as quickly as possible.

Hi!
I'm Rayne - a multiply disabled and multiply neurodivergent, chronically ill ASL/English interpreter, Suffolk University graduate student, current LEND Program Fellow, parent, and spouse. And more ;)

I am (finally) fundraising to be able to purchase a mobility aid to get around more safely and to have better access to my fellowship, graduate studies, work, and getting out and about with my family. After lots of research, I found the right one for me: a Travelscoot! It is quite expensive but is lightweight and foldable, which means I can get it in and out of the car by myself, travel with it and stow it with me on a plane, and navigate many more varied terrains than I can walking or with other options. It even has solid rubber tires so it will never get a flat. Lastly, it can be repaired easily and without the restrictions that wheelchairs and scooters normally have on who can and how repairs can be done. Most TravelScoot owners do repairs themselves.

How the money will be used
All funds raised will go towards purchasing the mobility scooter. Any additional funds raised will go to additional modifications and/or accessories for the TravelScoot, in order to make it more functional.

Examples could be an attachment to pull luggage, a basket for carrying items, hand/foot grips, seat modifications for more support, or saving for future repairs.

Background
Due to a combination of neurological and other conditions, I am now in need of something I can use to rely on when out and about, as my mobility can be unpredictable. It also helps me to have more energy and stamina, making it easier for me to do things with my family and keep up with a young teen.

I also attend and present at conferences and travel for work, which means I have to rely on others to push me around in a manual wheelchair part of the time or I have to rent a scooter. After a dangerous and traumatic experience with a rented scooter at a hotel and conference center this past year, as well as continued unreliability of access at every turn of travel, it has become clear that it is time for me to purchase my own device that I can keep with me at all times while traveling.

Without any accessories to be able to tow luggage, etc., the cost will be $3,000. There are some customizations they will need to do, so it will be a bit above that but not by much.
It's steep, but I believe we can do it!

My goal is to raise as much as possible towards the goal by April 4th as I will be attending the Disability Policy Seminar in Washington, DC with some of the other LEND Program Fellows from my cohort. I will really be relying on my Travelscoot for that trip, as we will be meeting with legislators and attending conference sessions to discuss disability policy and our shared work. Of all the years to spend time on the hill discussing disability and healthcare policy, 2025 is the year!
