Photo Field Guide to Birds of China
Donation protected
Please help me become the first Westerner to write a photographic field guide to the birds of China. The project will require about 3,500 photos and several thousand words of text. I am the writer as well as chief photographer for the project. To create the book and app, my wife, Elaine, and I need to travel throughout China, taking high-quality photos of birds and getting first-hand experience with the approximately 1,400 species of bird in China. Your donation will help me cover travel expenses, maintain and upgrade equipment, and purchase from other photographers any photos that I myself am not able to take. Our project will have many benefits. First, it will focus attention on birds in China, a country the size of the USA but with about 500 more species of bird than the USA and Canada combined. A megadiverse country, China is also a country with unprecedented levels of pressure on its natural environment. The high-quality photo field guide that your donation will help me create will educate readers about birds in China and spur them to act to protect China's natural environment. Publishing this book is my life's biggest dream; writing it has become my life's biggest adventure. With your donation, you too can take part in this bold venture! Please help me realize my dream! Donors of $2,500 or more will be entitled to a free one-day birding trip in 2015 or 2016 with Craig and Elaine to a birding hotspot in the Shanghai area.
