**Funds raised for Trish will now go to her funeral expenses after the medical expenses are paid. Please continue to share and support.**
The holidays are a time of giving and spreading good cheer. We hope you will carry that tradition with Trish Cartmell, who needs our support right now. She is my cousin, but she is also a mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, niece, and friend to many.
Trish has been diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer and just before her 56th birthday next week on December 20th.
It was a short time ago when she was on the East Coast helping care for her mom, who is going through cancer treatments. After she returned home to California, she developed a cough and started having back pain. The pain was enough for her to see her doctor, and after doing a CT scan, she told Trish she had lung cancer. She was left with an appointment scheduled weeks later to have a biopsy to determine the type, stage, and treatment options.
A week later, the pain became so severe, and Trish was having tremendous difficulties breathing that she went to the emergency room. She was told there was fluid in her lung and surrounding her heart and that it was only by her coming in that she was still alive.
After tests (and pain medication), it was discovered the cancer in her lung had metastasized to her bones and is in her pelvis, spine, sternum, and at least one rib. She is waiting for her bone marrow biopsy results.
Trish has remained in the hospital since Saturday, December 9th, but each day they talk about releasing her and starting radiation to help ease the pain. Her mom will be flying out to California from Virginia to help take care of Trish, but she had to wait until she finished her last infusion this week.
She continues to have a positive attitude, and even in the face of such a tough diagnosis, she hasn’t lost that British sense of humor!
What can we do? Donate to help with not only the incredible medical bills that are coming but also anything she needs to help ease the additional financial burden that comes with cancer.
In the season of giving, and with it also being Trish’s birthday next week, please HELP and SHARE. We will update you once they have her treatment plan in place.
If you cannot donate, send words of support and encouragement. She will see all your comments.
All funds raised go directly to Trish, as this is linked to her bank account. For security purposes, I will not publicly share her Venmo, Zelle, or other cash apps, but if you prefer to give through that channel, please contact us through this account. Trish also has access.
