Give Back to Jack

My name is Collette, and I am fundraising for my partner Jack.

Jack, my best friend, canine conservationist, and renowned detection dog is in dire need of treatment for cancer.

Jack spent the first few years of his life in and out of the Skagit Valley Humane Society. As a misunderstood blue heeler, he was deemed destructive, aggressive, and full of behavioral issues. In reality, he just needed a person to give him a chance.

When I first met Jack, I had the same thought as everyone else, “Nope. No way. This dog doesn’t want to work for anyone, he lives by his own rules”. Then, after spending more time with him, he showed me how wrong I was and forever changed the way I thought about the human and dog relationship. He wasn’t waiting for someone he can work for, rather, he was waiting for someone willing to work with him. Jack needed a partner; someone to listen and see the world through his eyes, and in turn help him live in a confusing human world.

My otherwise healthy boy is battling apocrine gland anal sac adenocarcinoma with metastasis to his sublumbar lymph nodes, and his last hope is surgery and radiation. His doctors say this treatment could be the difference between months and years. However, treatment costs are around 40k for cancer drugs, cts, surgery, and radiation therapy.

Despite the looming shadow of his cancer, Jack still loves life. He loves to play, and he thrives on learning together with his person. His favorite things in life are good food, chasing balls, and swimming.

When I say this dog is everything to me, I mean it. I have spent the majority of the last 6 years alone except for him. He has given me everything, and I just want to do the same for him.
