The specific purpose of this GoFundMe is to generate funds to support our music program, which includes marching band with color guard, symphonic band, jazz band, and choir programs at Rancho Cotate High School (a public high school) in Rohnert Park, California. As you may be aware, our schools have struggled to fund art education due to budget constraints at the state level.

Adding music to the curriculum has many benefits; these are just a few examples:

• Develops language and reasoning abilities.

• Assists with memorization skills.

• Increases coordination and mobility.

• Keeps students engaged in school and society.

• Promotes self‐confidence.

• Provides a sense of achievement and emotional development.

• Provide opportunities for teamwork and community.

• Develops academic and life‐related skills.

Our marching band is award‐winning and travels to competitions. This school year, we plan to attend at least eight competitive events. Our direct expense is well over $50k annually, and we rely heavily on community support for our students to participate in and learn from these extracurricular activities.

Donations received help to support costs related to event registration, transportation, uniforms, color guard equipment and supplies, sheet music for both band and choir, instrument supplies, and additional technology and equipment for the music program.
