Jono’s battle to live!

Donation protected
Kia Ora 4 months ago my dear friend Jono was diagnosed with extensive small cell lung cancer.
this diagnosis is sadly terminal.

In finding out this devastating diagnoses, Jono was given his first round of chemo but unfortunately this landed him a long hospital stay, and whilst there his cancer spread from his left lung to his right, eventually it will spread to his brain, lymph nodes, etc. He is unable to work. Because of this, Jono has decided not to continue with chemo as he needs to spend as much time as he can with his two sons, Jaelin who is 23 years old and Zac who is 20 years old.

Jono has been in myself and my children’s life for more than 20 + years, and we have always thought of him and his boys as apart of our whanau (family).

This man has always set the bar high as an adoring single dad, and a loving and caring son to his mother- whom he has looked after for many years while she has been unwell.
And to his friends, Jono could only be described as the same caring and loving person as if you were his family.

Because of his condition and being unable to return to work, Jono is now facing unfair treatment from his landlord for being behind on rent- something you would hope there would be leniency for in such circumstances. His insurance also refuses to pay out, as well as his super.
Jono is left to battle not only terminal cancer, but the system that seems to have no sympathy.
Jono is the first person to give you the shirt off his back & his last dollar.
He has always been a very giving person & always up to help those less fortunate.

That is where I’m hoping, through good and generous people- we can help Jono and his boys so they can have time together without having to worry about paying their bills.
Our goal is to raise as much as we can, with the possibility of helping Jaelin and Zachary after their dad is gone with funeral expenses etc…
Every little bit helps to make this heartbreaking journey just a little easier.
Thank you for reading Jono’s story.
