The Howe Sound Marine Rescue Society
(HSMRS) is a non-profit volunteer organization whose purpose is to support Station 4 Squamish of the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue (RCM-SAR). The HSMRS has supported RCM-SAR activities for the past 10 years and is responsible for fundraising with capital projects, maintenance, training, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) acquisition and other costs associated with the operations of the response vessels and their crews.

We provide marine safety to the public on the water and humanitarian assistance to augment British Columbia’s capabilities in areas emergencies occur. This is accomplished by providingSearch and Rescue capabilities, assets and personnel, marine safety consultations and public safety inspections.

Our Station maintains a 24 hour, 365-day schedule to have our vessel and crew available within 30 min
of the request for assistance. This includes a 15-minute transit from the volunteer’s location at the time
of the call out to the Fast Rescue Craft.

Our station has received a detailed quote for the required mid-life refit (renovation) of our primary response vessel, budgeted at $100,937 before taxes. Our small station of 23 members have worked tirelessly to raise funds for this vital project and have so far secured over $80,000 towards the refit.

We need your help with the remainder!
