RCP FIRE DAMAGE REPAIR AND SECURITY ENHANCEMENT
Tax deductible
On the night of February 22, 2023, Riverside Community Players suffered significant damage at the hands of an arsonist. The fire was started at around 11:00 pm on our loading dock between the scene shop and the storage container used to store props and furniture. The container and its contents are likely a total loss. The fire spread to the roof and siding of the Lewis Room shop.
Luckily the damage to our historic mid-century theater building could have been much worse had it not been to the swift and heroic actions of the Riverside Fire Department. Their quick response and decisive actions are THE ONLY reason the theater is still standing today. RFD, Riverside Community Players is forever in your debt and thank you doesn’t seem to be enough for saving a cultural icon as it nears its 100th Season.
The arson team is investigating and a suspect has been identified.
Many of our patrons, actors, backstage workers, board members, season ticket holders and community members recognize the importance of our theatre to the Riverside community. Now, we need your help. We have set up a Go Fund Me to help defer the cost of the repair to our building, replacing destroyed prop items and furniture, replacing our storage container and enhancing our security to prevent this from happening again. We are likely looking at a price tag of upwards of $10,000. No amount is too small or too large for your tax-deductible donation! THANK YOU for anything you can do!
