Jaqui MacMillan is a survivor and one of the most inspirational people I have ever met. Jaqui is a cancer survivor and throughout her journey she has maintained such a positive outlook.
About three weeks ago, Jaqui had to undergo another surgery. Hopefully the last one. This one wasn't for cancer, but for the largest hernia I have ever witnessed. This hernia was a result of a prior surgery which was for the cancer. The surgery went well, but Jaqui has been cut from one end of her abdomen to the other and is in a great deal of pain. She still has swelling and one of the drains remains. She will be recovering from this surgery for many months to come and has been instructed not to do anything strenuous for up to a year. Unfortunately, Jaqui is self employed and cannot work during her recovery. Jaqui MacMillan is an amazingly talented women. she is an artist and a musician.
Jaqui discovered her passion for African drumming thirty years ago. Over a span of fifteen years, she studied privately with many African drum masters and at the Tam Tam Mandingue School in Washington, DC. She began sharing her joy of drumming with others by performing, teaching classes and facilitating community drum circles
Jaqui has facilitated drum circles for hundreds of conferences, corporate team building events, elementary and high schools, hospitals, programs for “at risk” children, juvenile detention centers and programs for homeless and battered women. Every summer she spends her time teaching and healing children through music and drumming. On top of that, Jaqui is a Minister and founding Member of a Spiritual Church, "Peace Church." She has spent her life in service to humanity, helping where she can and spreading healing through her art and music.
She is one of the most inspirational women I have ever had the privalege of meeting. While I am sure in her private time she has down days, I have never seen her show that side. She maintains the sunniest outlook and never stops smiling and looking at the bright side of situations. She is always in gratitude and takes the hard times in life and uses them to tranform and grow. She is never a victim and I admire her tremendously. On her Facebook Page she descibes herself like this: "I love smiling and I love LOVE! " That is who Jaqui MacMillan is and her light, integrity and authenticity blazes like a bright star.
Jaqui is in need of financial assistance to pay her mortgage and utilities during her recovery until she can work full time again. As her friend, I am asking those who resonate with this, to donate any amount you can spare Anything to help Jaqui through this period of recovery. As we all know stress and in particular stress about money can make you sick. All of her friends want her to get back on her feet as quickly as possible without having to be stressed, potentially causing further complications. Jaqui MacMillan has helped so many during her life, that is my hope it will be repaid to her by the kindess and love of others. Thank you.
