This request is for a very special Branchburg family; the family of Marcia Stanford. Marcia passed away on April 7, 2015 at the age of 54 after a four year battle with Early Onset Alzheimer’s/Lewy Body Dementia.
Marcia’s husband Mike, and her two children Riley and Ryan, have done a tremendous job in caring for Marcia for the past four years. Day after day they ensured she was loved and provided for. They gave up so much of themselves to ensure such a debilitating illness was dealt with dignity and awareness. It is my hope that this fund can help them get over the loss of Marcia and to reconnect as a family. Whether it be to take a vacation together or support their efforts to find a cure, something they have great passion for, it doesn’t matter.
Riley and Ryan have been through a lot over the last four years, trying to live normal teenage lives while taking on caregiving responsibilities. Riley is a freshman at Drexel University and has had to focus on her mother, school and her future. As a young woman she was faced with the pressures of college work and the fact that she was away from her family. Ryan is a freshman at Somerville High School, just starting his journey in life. Mike showed strength, determination and relentless commitment to his wife, while trying to handle parenting, caregiving and working full time. Each of them sacrificed their time out of unconditional love for Marcia.
We established this fund to show Mike, Riley and Ryan the community is behind them and our appreciation for the care they gave Marcia.

"This is such an overwhelmingly nice gesture. One we are more than humbled by. Between the participation and money raised over the last two years' Branchburg Race Against Alzheimer's, the countless hours given by so many people in so many ways, this generosity is something we will never be able to adequately give thanks for. As we reconnect as a family without Marcia's physical presence, we hope to advocate and do what we can to find a cure so others, and future generations don't have to face the same life altering challenges we have endured."
