READ TO LEAD: Allowing ENTIRE school to buy a book
Imagine a world that every child in an elementary school could select and buy the book that they are excited to read. That book sparks an interest in not only reading, but possibly a future career, an imagination that feeds a hunger for writing, or even a desire to learn about different cultures.
Hello! I’m Trey Cobb. I am a junior in high school. I developed a love for reading during my second grade year at Belvoir Elementary School. I bought a book at a Scholastic Book Fair, and a spark for reading was ignited. I feel that since it was a teacher at Belvoir that encouraged my love for reading, I should try my best to give the same opportunity to other students at the school that impacted me.
Belvoir Elementary School is a Title 1 school located in rural Pitt County, North Carolina. Funds raised will allow EVERY student in grades Pre-K through 5th grade to select and purchase a book of their choice. Belvoir Elementary School has dedicated teachers that go above and beyond to instill the love of reading in every child. Although some families at Belvoir are able to purchase books, there are many that cannot. I really want to change this.
The bonus to this fundraiser is that schools receive 20% of all sales. This would potentially allow the media center at Belvoir to buy over $1,000 worth of new books for their media center.
Please consider donating to this worthwhile cause. The students at Belvoir Elementary School would be so grateful!
The Book Fair is soon!! Please donate today!!
