Reagan Hayes’s Summer Ballet Intensive

Hi! My name is Reagan Hayes. I am 16 years old and have been dancing since I was three years old. Recently, I attended a dance event where I was awarded a partial scholarship to a summer intensive in Massachusetts. This intensive is hosted by the Cosmopolitan Ballet Theatre at Smith College, Northampton, MA. The teachers there are all very accomplished dancers whom have graduated from prestigious schools such as the Vaganova Ballet Academy in Russia, or The Juilliard School of Arts in New York. Normally, I would need to audition to be accepted to attend, but because I received the scholarship, I have already been accepted. This intensive is two weeks long and provides extensive training through courses such as Ballet, Pointe, Repertoire and Master Classes, Contemporary, Modern, Character, Ballroom, Choreography/Improvisation, Body conditioning, Light design, Ballet history and nutrition class, as well as a performance opportunity. There will also be a field trip to a dance festival in Boston. This upcoming year will be my senior year in high school, and therefore it will also be my last year as a student at my dance studio. This intensive would be an incredible opportunity for me to not only improve my dancing skills and technique, but it would also help me to determine whether or not I am suited to work in a professional ballet environment where I am able to pursue my passion as a career. With the exception of a chaperone, I will also learn about being independent, as it will be my first time traveling alone. I would learn about life skills such as time management and organization. This money covers all my meals, some of my transportation, housing, and classes. ANY donation, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
