R.E.A.L. Education's Yorkshire 3 Peak Challenge

On Saturday 01 July 2023, a team of brave colleagues from R.E.A.L. Education are going to take on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge. They will endeavour to scale all 3 peaks together starting at sunrise with the aim to be down the final peak before sunset. This 24 mile trek will see each member of the group walk 55,374 steps (on average) which for many will be the furthest they have moved without the use of a car, plane or train!

I hear you ask why they have chosen to spend a Saturday in July walking 24 miles worth of hills and rough terrain…..?

R.E.A.L Foundation Trust provides accessible community based projects and programmes to support young people to build wellbeing by engaging positively with their peers and other members of their communities. These projects take place outside of school hours and can provide a safe and enriching environment for young people to thrive in. R.E.A.L. Foundation Trust also relies on funding and charitable donations in order to provide other mechanisms of support within the communities it operates in.

The money raised from this challenge will be used to support the families of our learners at R.E.A.L. Education by providing them with bursaries. These bursaries will be granted to those families who are facing financial hardship and need urgent support for food, bills and other necessities.

The R.E.A.L. team have begun their training and have been benefiting from training walks in Derbyshire and pushing themselves through gruelling strength & conditioning sessions.

We are grateful for any and every donation that you are able to make to this fantastic charity. Not only will it go towards alleviating some pressure off our families but it will get the team up those hills!
