Real family Recovery

Hello to everyone near and far,

2023 has been a bit of a struggle for my family. My husband was in a motorcycle accident on June 9th, 2023 while heading to a funeral. 27 hours into the trip I received a phone call that changed everything as I awaited for a dr or someone to call me with updates. Hours later I am in a vehicle traveling to Salt Lake City for my husband in an unknown condition. 9 hours later He made it through with damage to the right side of his body also making him wheelchair bound. The healing process is up to a year as he is not allowed to put any weight on his right leg, little use of his right arm, multiple broken bones, and a deflated lung. Last year I became a PCA (personal care assistant) for my mother who is wheelchair bound. Now I am caring for both my Husband and my mom unable to work outside of Our home. 24 hour care for my husband and assisting my mom has me left with no time. Writing this and asking for help is one of the hardest things for us to do. I am beyond blessed for those who have taken a few moments to read this and beyond words for those who are able to help in any way.

A note from my Husband to everyone:

Hello family, friends, friends of family, and friends of friends:

Most people that will even see this will know me, but if you are reading this and don’t know me. My name is Alan Real, and on June 9th 2023 while traveling to a friends memorial, I wrecked my motorcycle while avoiding a 3 bike collision. Thank God I was wearing a brain bucket and full leather’s because if I was not wearing this gear I would not be here to even ask for help. Although I seem to have escaped death I did bang myself up enough that I was life flighted from the middle of nowhere Wyoming to the University of Utah trauma department in Salt Lake. I can say the care and respect at the University of Utah is absolutely amazing.
The injuries I accumulated laying my bike down and sliding down this desolate highway about 230 feet are- broken collarbone, broken shoulder blade, 7 broken ribs (that also punctured/collapsed my lung in 2 places). I broke my tibia enough that I may need 1 or 2 more surgeries and something with my meniscus that needed repaired.

Although my wife does bring in an income her income alone isn’t quite enough to cover all expenses, as many do know wives and moms are super human most days. She has now gotten a toddler if you will, as my injuries need constant attention. Thankfully school is out so our youngest son is home most of the time if he isn’t working himself. Yes our youngest is helping out in any way he can. Our other 2 sons whom are not living with us are also pitching in to help. Even with the help our children can give is not enough.

My wife is an absolute soldier not only taking care of her handicap mother, but has now inherited a husband that is temporarily unable to provide for his family. Like so many people out there we live paycheck to paycheck. My wife can not juggle another job because she takes care of her mother more than 35 to 40 hrs a week. She only gets reimbursed 14 hours a week, now her invalid lucky husband requiring more care than my amazing woman should have to do because she gets zero free time from still having a teen at home caring for her mother and now being a caretaker of me.

If I can get some help from caring compassionate and generous people, Myself and my family will be forever grateful. I am a very proud person and I really never ask for help or a handout, my family is also this way. We would rather be helping than be getting the help.

Sadly this is where we are at in this juncture of life’s travels. If you are unable to make a contribution we kindly ask you share this on any social media platform you interact on. It would be greatly appreciated. The more people that see this the more of a chance someone can and will help. If you can spare a dollar and if we get enough dollar donations this help save my family’s home of the past 9 years.

I know this is long and I have probably forgotten some things as I am pretty medicated with all of these injuries, but we will also update this go fund me campaign as the recovery goes.
My story is long and mostly a success story but now we are scared of becoming homeless story. Yes we could sell our home, but we would have to move away from the city that my wife has called home for 30 years and that we have called home together for 15 years. We are by far good people in a bad situation and we are desperately seeking help from whomever finds it in their heart and are willing to help my family with a contribution or just sharing and/or asking others to share would help immensely.
