Let's Motorize Michael!

Hello friends and family! I've started this fundraiser to help Mikey try to purchase a new power wheelchair that is easy for him to control and easy for him to use all the time.

Insurance would never cover this kind of wheelchair that he needs because for some reason it is considered a "luxury" item.  Trying to be independent and mobile is considered a luxury for people like Michael according to the insurance companies but I feel that it should be a neccesity.

If Mikey wants to be a little more independent and self reliant I think we should all be able to help him and give him that chance. 

Although he is incredibly grateful to be pushed around in a manual wheelchair he lacks the freedom that we all have to go where we want to go.  He just wants the same kind of ability as we have to be able to move around and do what he wants to do without having to rely on someone 100% of the time.

Michael has been taken care of his entire life. He was born with a metabolic disease called mucolipidoses III.  Because of the skeletal abnormalities and heart problems that came from this disease Michael was never able to be fully mobile. He has spent most of his life being carried around by all of his friends and family :)  or pushed in a manual wheelchair. 

For everybody that has had the pleasure to meet Mikey you all know how he is.  He is caring, loyal, and humble... just an overall great guy.  I feel that he totally deserves it and will use it all the time.

I know that if we all pitched in we can make this happen for Mikey.  Anything helps and Mikey will appreciate every penny.
