Rebecca and Yosha's stay in Houston

As you all may know, Rebecca was recently diagnosed with gastroesophageal cancer which has metastasized to her liver. Earlier this week, Rebecca and Alyosha met with an oncologist at UNM and later at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston with an oncologist who is an international leader in GEJ cancer to determine her treatment options.

Based on these meetings, they have chosen to seek treatment in Houston, where Rebecca would be treated by a more experienced oncology team, have access to MD Anderson's extensive network of specialists and support services, and may have the opportunity to join a clinical trial if she meets the eligibility criteria.

Rebecca will start treatment in Houston in late February and both Rebecca and Alyosha will be spending at least two months in Houston for her treatments but quite possibly and most likely longer.

During the upcoming two months, their expenses will include $1,500 a month for rent (they've secured subsidized housing) and $1,000 a month for a car rental, for a total $2,500 a month (not including living expenses). These expenses are in addition to what Rebecca and Alyosha already pay to maintain their home in Albuquerque. There will also have additional medical costs beyond what is covered by insurance.
