Rebecca "Becky" Diaz 1968-2016
Becky...our daughter, sister, mom, grandma, auntie, cousin, friend and loved one...has been taken home by the One Who Knows What Is Best...Our Father Creator...GOD.
If you read the writing below by her oldest brother, Isaac, you will get an idea of how we, as a family, remember her. She was a rebel, from an early age. This trait sometimes served her well, other times...not so much...but it was part of her personal journey. Those of us who traveled that journey with her, through the ups and downs and all of the chapters in that book...witnessed the richness of life while being deeply affected by it all...and by her. The Colors and Tapestry of Family...Growing Pains...Forgiveness...Redemption...and Love.
We mourn her loss...we grieve her absence...yet we Celebrate Her Life...because she made an impact...and her smile and spirit and memories we made...will be with us forever.
"Today has been a sad, heartbreaking and crushing day for my family and me. Late last night my beautiful sister Becky (Rebecca Diaz) passed away. She wasn't only my sister but also one of my best friends. She was a person who touched so many people who love her and will truly miss her. She was taken way to soon, so young (just turned 48 last week the 14th). But I am thankful for the time that I had her. We laughed (oh how she made me laugh), we cried and we overcame so much growing up. She was an amazing sister who took care of me when I needed her. She was a person with a huge heart who gave to others unselfishly, a trait which she got from my grandmother (Rebecca) her name sake. She leaves behind 4 beautiful children, my nephews Joel Isaac, Alyssa, Anthony and Sean whom we love very much who know that they can count on us (their family) to be there for them, for whatever they may need. Thank you God for blessing us with such a beautiful soul. Manita I love you and I will miss you till the day I see you again. Your ever grateful and loving brother, Isaac
My dear son Isaac...my oldest and firstborn...what a beautiful eulogy you have penned for your sister. Nana Shawny and I have been walking around in The Twilight Zone grieving with flowing tears at times...and then smiling with knowing that we were able to make some beautiful memories with Becky, aside from her childhood, especially in the last year or so. We had been sharing the kind of relationship with her that every parent and family wishes for and we were not ready to have it take this kind of a turn. As your dad...and hers...this is something Nana Shawny and I were not prepared for...no parent should ever have to say goodbye to their child. A lifetime invested as family through the good and the bad...and LOVE is victorious. We are all together (Her Children: Joel Isaac & Karen; Alyssa; Anthony; Sean; Grandchildren: Kash & Rome; Her Parents: Isaac & Shawny Barcelona and Alex & Armando Rodriguez; Her Siblings: Isaac; Eddy; D. Ryan-Shawn; Jeremy; Nicole; Alex and Taylor; Her Partner: Craig Tami; Her Uncles & Aunts: Art & Elsa, Ivan & Prima Ivanna, Isma & Nancy, Laura & Chuy, Bely & Daniel, Rene & Olga Guerrero, Martha & Jeronimo, Rebecca & Alejandro, Tia Pato, Licha, Malena, Katya, Mago; Her Guardian Angel & Love: Chuck Noble; Her Cousins: Arturo, Claudia & Alexia, Arturo Martinovich, Ana Vanessa, Ana Rebecca, Isaac & Daniela, Isaac & Yvette, etc.; Her Nephews & Nieces: Vanessa, Belle, Gordo & Lucero and their kids; Eddie Boy, Jazmine, Nicole, Elvia & Ethyn; And...Becky is right here with us in the middle of everything. Love, Dad & Grandpa IB 11/28/16
