My amazing sister, Becky (age 36), was diagnosed with a rare genetic form of breast cancer two weeks ago. Becky is very private and has only recently started sharing the news with friends and family. As this is the case, I waited until now to reach out for help for her and Fran and her two kiddos, who we all adore.
Becky had surgery last week to determine the extent of cancer and determine whether or not it has spread to the lymph nodes. She is still awaiting the results of the biopsies. As Becky nervously awaits these results, she continues to remain optimistic, as we do too.
She has a long road ahead of her, filled with chemo treatments, radiation, and possible further surgeries.
You might ask why I decided to do the GoFundMe when both Becky and Fran work. The answer is that Becky will have to take time off, and there will be a great deal of costs not covered by insurance that will be incurred during this process. As Becky prepares to take this journey, we don't want her to stress about the costs and financial burden that will inevitably occur during her treatment.
If you are unable to give monetarily, please consider praying and sending positive thoughts to her and the family. She can use all the support she can get right now.
I will continue to provide updates on her progress/status.
Thank you!
Update 10/6/22
Becky has undergone several tests since I first posted. We still await the results of the PET scan. Chemo begins soon and will be followed by radiation and more major surgeries. She will undergo chemo through February, so this journey is not over and is only just beginning. We appreciate everyone's contributions thus far through the prayers, comments, donations, time, and compassion folks have shown her and our family over the past few weeks. Keep up the words of encouragement and prayers; we can use all we can get! Thank you to all!
