Rebekah’s fight against breast cancer
Donation protected
Rebekah: “Naomi, I can’t lift you right now bc I’m not as strong as I look.”
Naomi (3yrs old): “It’s ok Mommy, I can give you some of my strong.”
Last month Rebekah and I went to the doctors for a lump we found in her breast. After an extensive series of tests, the doctors have diagnosed her with breast cancer. The abruptness of the diagnosis comes just days after she accepted a tenure-track professorship offer with the University of Chicago.
It's been a whirlwind of emotions as we've spent more time in the doctor's office than our home (including celebrating Mother's Day on an MRI table). As we are still processing, we’ve started our treatment journey of immunotherapy, chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation, which will continue over the next year in NC.
Rebekah is the mother to two incredibly brilliant daughters—who look up to her as a scholar in the field of public health when she’s not singing and doing yoga with them in the living room.
Thank you for your prayers and support in our fight against breast cancer.
God Bless,
