Doorstep Fire, an original punk band with roots in Haliburton County are raising funds to raise awareness around social justice and the rise of fascism.
Three of the four members grew up in Haliburton County, Seamus Lynch, Cameron Espina and Wesley Stoughton were all part of high school bands that many Haliburton residents may remember. Wescali was a rock band that won the Battle of the Bands which helped raise funds to build the Haliburton Skate Park. The band, The Bones of Jim Jones were part of an online graduation ceremony for the 2020 Covid HHSS graduating class who went onto record an album in Montreal later that year. Members of both groups played at the opening of the Haliburton County Youth Hub.
As they begin to make plans for a tour, the now Toronto-based band is about to record their first single in conjunction with making a music video. Working day-jobs and moonlighting as musicians is a hand-to-mouth existence.
The band is putting a call out to anyone that would like to support them in making a video for their first song, Down Street. Down Street is an anti-war song that protests military occupation in foreign countries.
The video is being made by Nathan Brown, a professional independent film maker and photographer with a love for analog film and photography practices. https://www.instagram.com/nathanbrownphoto?igsh=aDB0NWcwOGExejdr
No donation is too small, and all support is appreciated as the band tries to create a voice and community for youth during these politically tumultuous times.
