Rebuild Acapulco: Hurricane Otis Relief

Dear Friends,

I am Cid Nava, and I come to you with a heavy heart, bearing witness to the unimaginable devastation Hurricane Otis has wrought upon our beloved city of Acapulco, Mexico. In just 12 hours, it transformed from a tropical storm to a Category 5 hurricane, leaving little time for adequate preparation. The wind speeds, akin to a slow-moving, 30-mile-wide EF3 tornado, have left our once-magical city in ruins.

As of now, over a million souls are without electricity, communication lines, or even the assurance that their loved ones have survived. The structures that remain standing are but hollow shells, and the most densely populated areas remain inaccessible due to flooded roads and debris.

Yet, even in this darkest hour, the spirit of Acapulco perseveres. We are transforming our Hotel into a beacon of hope, a shelter, and a disaster relief center. Here, we will provide nourishment and water to survivors and act as a vital distribution point for provisions and supplies, commencing the arduous journey of rebuilding our cherished city.

The challenges ahead are monumental. Search and rescue operations, the evacuation of the vulnerable, and the logistics of providing necessities loom large. Airports are crippled, and many roads are blocked by mudslides. Desperation hangs heavy in the air.

But let us remember, together, we are stronger. Together, we will rise from the ashes. Together, we will rebuild Acapulco, brick by brick, heart by heart. Let this be our rallying cry, our testament to the indomitable spirit of a city that has faced adversity before and emerged stronger than ever.
