Rebuild after I lost my home to Hurricane Helene in WNC

I lost my home in western North Carolina from the floods and landslides of Hurricane Helene.
On September 27, 2024, Hurricane Helene ravaged my home in western North Carolina. Thankfully, everyone occupying the home is safe, but my home is unlivable. The loss that the region is facing is enormous and heartbreaking. It is unknown how many are still missing. An ever growing number of lives lost in our community due to the unprecedented flooding and landslides.
I am in emotional distress and impending financial ruin. My homeowner's insurance says they don't cover flash floods or landslides, and rejected my claim. There is a chance for federal support through FEMA, but it is unknown when that will come and the amount of support each person will receive.
If you are able to support financially, this would help in the following ways:
- The reality of paying for a mortgage every month for a now uninhabitable property
- Covering the cost of a working rental car for transportation of supplies, people, and
- To begin the rebuilding effort for myself and our neighbors, from debris pickup to slowly working to make our home livable again.
- Cover tools, water, food, and other supplies in the immediate weeks (I have currently invested more than $2,000 of the last of my savings in response to the disaster)
