In the early morning of June 18th, the devastating South Fork Fire swept through our beloved town of Alto, New Mexico, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Among the hardest hit were a cornerstone of our community: the Alto Ski Shop. This cherished establishment was more than just a business, it was a gathering place, sources of joy, and hubs for outdoor enthusiasts and cannabis aficionados alike.

Founded in 1981 by Don and Jodee, the Alto Ski Shop has been a beacon for skiers, snowboarders, and adventurers for over 40 years. Recently, Alto Ski Shop has changed hands in 2021 and expanded with top-notch gear, expert advice, a full bar and a rad atmosphere, the shop has become a beloved local institution. Many of you have fond memories of gearing up for your first ski trip, repairing your broken gear, and experiencing the warm hospitality that made the Alto Ski Shop feel like home.

The Impact:

The fire has left us devastated. Alto Ski Shop with all their equipment, products, and the hard work of so many years, have been reduced to ashes and rubble. The loss is not just financial but deeply emotional. Our dedicated staff, who have always gone above and beyond to serve our community, now find themselves without workplaces and facing an uncertain future.

Why We Need Your Help:

Rebuilding this vital establishments is a monumental task, but it is one we are determined to undertake. We believe in the spirit of our community and the power of coming together in times of need. We are launching this GoFundMe campaign to raise $200,000 to cover the costs of rebuilding the Alto Ski Shop, restocking equipment and inventory, and supporting our staff during this challenging period.

Reconstruction: Funds will be used to rebuild both businesses from the ground up, ensuring they meet all current safety and building codes.

Restocking: We will need to replace all the gear, equipment, product, supplies, and inventory that were lost in the fire.
