Rebuild Asheville Hockey League's Rink
Tax deductible
On September 27th, 2024, hurricane Helene blew through the Southeast and cut a destructive swath through 6 states. Western North Carolina saw some of the most catastrophic damage. Along with the devastating loss of homes, property and lives (the sum total of which is still being assessed), WNC lost it's only outlet for hockey. The roller hockey rink at Asheville's Carrier Park was a central hub for hundreds of youth and adult league athletes. The Asheville Hockey League has been introducing the game to new players and providing programming for youth leaguers and veteran athletes for over 2 decades. The rink has become the center of WNC hockey, as well as home to plenty of other skaters.
Hurricane Helene and her unprecedented flooding, utterly destroyed our rink.
The league has vowed to rebuild and continue the programming that has meant so much to so many. Our first objective is to secure rink time in Greenville SC to get the Youth and Adult players back to a semblance of normalcy, with the outlet of hockey as a vehicle! The next priority is to evaluate the state of the current city rink and continue to move towards our ultimate goal of a league owned, covered facility. The tile rink that we own remains stored and undamaged. Finding a home for and installing that rink is the end goal for long term stability of hockey in WNC! We are calling on the love of our extended hockey family to help us rebuild and continue the Asheville Hockey League's legacy of "Bringing Hockey to the Mountains!"
