Rebuild Carmichael Little League

After more than a year of investigation, the former treasurer for Carmichael Little League (CLL) was arrested by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department on October 30, 2018 for charges related to embezzlement, grand theft, forgery, and unlawful use of personal identifying information. These are serious financial crimes that have impacted our Carmichael community. CLL was a victim along with other local organizations. CLL has enacted strict new financial controls to prevent this from happening in the future.
For the past 60 years, CLL has provided positive opportunities for thousands of boys and girls in our community to participate in a quality youth sports experience. Our fields are a home away from home for many kids where they learn so many valuable life lessons. Strong and lasting friendships are created on our fields. We have amazing coaches and volunteers that create a safe environment for kids to learn and grow and gain confidence. It's a special place, and we need your help.
Our baseball fields need repair, seeding, and maintenance. Our snack bar needs to be significantly refurbished so it is operational. The funds raised through snack bar sales go directly to supporting our league. We need new equipment for our children and volunteer umpires. We need to pay for insurance and various dues to little league organizations. Our scoreboards need to be replaced. We do not have the resources to pay for these improvements and commitments before the start of the next season. -
CLL has been able to operate for more than 60 years not only because of the support of our families, but also the support of our generous local community. It is in this spirit that we ask for any contribution you can make to help us keep the league thriving while we pursue all avenues to recover all stolen funds.
All donations to GoFundMe for Carmichael Little League are tax deductible.
It is heartbreaking to share this news, but we believe in the strength of our community. Thank you for your steadfast support of our kids, coaches, umpires, families, and volunteers.
With sincere appreciation,
CLL Board of Directors

The following letter was provided to league families following the arrest:
Dear Carmichael Little League Families,
After more than a year of investigation, we can report that an arrest was made on Tuesday and a person has been charged with multiple felonies in conjunction with alleged, serious financial crimes that have impacted our Carmichael community. Unfortunately, Carmichael Little League was a victim along with other local organizations. Last year, the Carmichael Board discovered some financial irregularities. As soon as we became aware of this issue, we immediately contacted the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department to report this matter.
Upon uncovering some financial irregularities last year, Carmichael Little League established a new bank account. We enacted new financial controls, so this situation would never happen again.
We ask that you be considerate by exercising restraint and sensitivity in making any conclusions regarding this matter. It is our utmost hope that our children are not adversely affected, and we ask that parents refrain from speculation until a full revelation of the facts by law enforcement and the Sacramento County District Attorney’s office are released to the public.
We appreciate the Sacramento County Sheriff Department’s diligent work on this investigation over the past year. As the investigation has revealed, this is truly a crime against our entire Carmichael community. The Carmichael Little League Board is fully committed to doing everything within our power to recover all misappropriated funds. All records were given to the investigators and we helped spearhead seeking justice for these crimes. As this investigation and process continues, please contact the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department or the Sacramento County District Attorney for information.
Please know that Carmichael Little League has continued to succeed in its mission despite this setback. We ask that you continue to support our league and everything that we do together to enrich the lives of our players.
Sincerely,
Carmichael Little League Board
