Rebuild Cashel Farm Kennel

Donation protected

At midnight on March 25, 2020 an electrical short started a fire in our greyhound kennel.  Within a few short minutes the heat was too terrible to get even close to going in the door and all our beloved dogs housed
in our main kennel had perished.   The loss of a lifetime's work is staggering enough, but worse is the individual loss of each and every one of our beloved dogs, all of which we have raised from birth.  In a matter of three or four minutes,  two thirds of the breeding stock built over a lifetime was gone.  The only dogs left were young dogs in their puppy pens, a mother in the nursery with her tiny pups, and a handful of dogs in a smaller kennel because their crates were being repaired in the main kennel.

We have dedicated our lives to preserving the incredible temperament and athletic ability of the racing greyhound so that people might continue to enjoy these amazing animals, after racing has ended, for years to come.    Finding a retired racer has become increasingly difficult and in some places, impossible.  With the closing down of the racetracks in Florida, the supply of retired racers will slow to a trickle.  We help to put greyhound puppies in the hands of people who have been unable to adopt.  Our reputation has been stellar.  We are a reputable breeder who has always backed our pups with a lifetime health guarantee and return if something anytime in the future should mean giving up a puppy.  We have never had a puppy end up homeless or in the shelter system.

That is until now.   With our own kennel reduced to ash, we now have    no kennel to house, mix feed, groom and bathe, or any of the dozens of daily tasks.

One thing we learned last night: although a crate system in a kennel is
comfortable and many dogs, especially greyhounds like this living arrangement, in a fire, it is a deathtrap.  With your help, we will rebuild a state of the art kennel with each dog getting a run to the outdoors.  In the event of fire this allows the dogs to escape the heat and fire long enough for us to come and open their gates to take them to safety.   The addition of a sprinkler system will further insure the dogs safety.

In these uncertain times, raising the most amazing, loving family dog
possible might seem trivial to some.  What is more comforting than our canine companions in times of stress?

I wish to thank you in advance for your help.  With your generosity,
my young daughter and I can put this horrific tragedy in the rear view mirror and continue our lifetime work of helping the future preservation of the Greyhound.
