Rebuild Children’s Garden School after Hurricane Helene

Huge gratitude to all the friends and anonymous helpers for helping us rebuild! Because of y’all, and many amazing local parents and volunteers, we were able to quickly remedy the schoolhouse and build a fence for one of the play areas and open in a limited capacity on a donation basis for our community for the month of October!! Thank you bless you!

We still have a long way to go in rebuilding the play areas, gardens, and replacing all the school materials that were washed away or destroyed in the storm. We thank you for your continued support and help in passing this fundraiser on to folks who might want to support!

We are Morna and Ben Harnden and we are the founders and teachers of The Children’s Garden Learning Community in Barnardsville NC. The school has been hit pretty hard from Hurricane Helene. Please help us rebuild and open as soon as possible so we can keep the school alive and serve our families who are in great need of a safe place for their children while they recover from this disaster.

Our schoolhouse and basement have flooded and are in great need of repair. We lost our driveway, parking areas, outdoor children’s play areas, most of our gardens, and most of the fences which keep the children safe from the surrounding areas which insurance is refusing to help with. Funds will be used to repair the schoolhouse and grounds so that we can reopen as quickly as possible to serve our children and families in need. No contribution is too small to make a difference.
