Rebuilding Amateur Radio Club Station W2MMD
Hello, my name is Alan Arrison, and my amateur radio call-sign is KB2AYU. I am treasurer for the Gloucester County (NJ) Amateur Radio Club Inc. The non profit Club, call-sign W2MMD, has been in operation since 1959. As you may have seen on the evening news, on the evening of September 1, 2021, an EF3 tornado carved a path of destruction through Mullica Hill, NJ, home to the GCARC Club Station. Miraculously, our building survived but we lost both the 90' tower with VHF/UHF antennas and the 54' tower with HF antennas. Without antennas we can no longer communicate locally or worldwide. We communicate not only as a hobby, but also as a service to our communities. (See w2mmd.org for "before" and "after" photos and other Club information) Not only were thousands of dollars of hardware lost, but hundreds of hours of work as well. Even with this loss, we can count our blessings because buildings that were just 1000' to the west were shredded.
We have already started planning to rebuild, but it is going to take money and a lot of hard work. The Club and its membership would greatly appreciate any donation that you care to make toward rebuilding the W2MMD Club Station.
Sincerely, Al KB2AYU
