Title: Help Collin Rebuild After the Eaton Canyon Fire

Introduction:
Dear friends, family, and compassionate supporters,
Thank you for reading.

I’m reaching out today to ask for your help for my close friend, Collin Chang, who has suffered a devastating loss. On January 7th, the Eaton Canyon fire swept through the community house where Collin lived, reducing it to ashes. With only minutes to evacuate, Collin escaped with his computer, phone, and the clothes on his back. Everything else—his home, belongings, and cherished memories—was left behind.

About Collin:
Collin is one of the most kind-hearted and selfless people I know. Whenever we, as his friends and family, are in need, he is quick to assist, even when it means dropping everything. He’s always been there for his community, whether through his work, volunteering, or simply being a supportive friend. He lived in a community house where neighbors shared not just space but also camaraderie, creating a unique and meaningful environment. Losing this home is not just a loss of possessions but also a loss of that tight-knit support system.

The Impact:
The fire took everything Collin owned: his clothes, personal mementos, and basic necessities. Beyond material possessions, it also displaced him from the community he called home. The emotional and financial toll is immense, and Collin now faces the daunting challenge of starting over from scratch.

How You Can Help:
We’re raising funds to help Collin rebuild his life and find stability in the wake of this tragedy. Your donations will go towards:
  • Temporary housing and rent
  • Clothing and personal essentials
  • Replacing lost items, including work equipment
  • Any additional support needed to get back on his feet

Why This Matters:Collin has always been there for others, and now he needs our support. By coming together, we can help him rebuild not just a house, but a home. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference and will go directly to helping Collin recover and move forward.

Final Note:Thank you for taking the time to read Collin’s story. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this campaign with your network is just as valuable. Let’s show Collin that his community—near and far—is here for him in this time of need.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your kindness and generosity.
Tina, Tara, and August

About Us: We are fellow residents of Los Angeles, and very close friends with Collin, who is also August's godfather. We consider one another family, and spend time together weekly. We would gather at the Mariposa house often for celebrations and holidays, and are also also grieving the loss.
