Rebuild Historic Mayson Chapel Baptist Church

Hi, my name is Leroy Jr and I am raising funds to rebuild the historic Mayson Chapel Baptist Church.

Mayson Chapel Baptist Church was founded by the children of slaves in 1909 in the historic Armour community in NW Atlanta, Ga, where it served for many years as the only school for blacks in the area. The surrounding community has changed much over time as a once thriving black community gave way to the now commercial district surrounding the church. This has not deterred the work of the church, which has continued to serve those in need.

In early 2022, the church, with very little finances, faced a sagging roof. After spending $10,000 in funds raised by the small congregation to repair the roof, the church roof was left in even worse condition as the roofer hired to help ultimately swindled the church and left with the money. The roof has since collapsed, taking the walls and floor with it. Though the building is a total loss, the church remains undeterred. We are thanking God for the victory we know is on the way!

The church will use all funds received to rebuild. The funds will be used to hire professional engineers, brick masons, roofers, etc. to restore this sacred and historical institution to its former glory.
